About Dupath Farm

The Coombe family has owned the farm since 1947, and it is now run by Peter and his son, Adrian, with the help of one full-time employee plus part time staff at harvest time.

The farm is 1 mile from Callington, population 5,000, and 15 miles from the city of Plymouth. This was formerly a tin mining area and the ruins of many of the engine houses can still be seen.

Crops 12 ha Potatoes (Planted in March/April)
4 ha Winter Barley (Sown October)
8 ha Spring Barley (Sown April)
Stock 160 Cattle (Aged 1 - 30 months)
450 Sheep, Welsh Mules & 10 Charolais Rams
Climate We have an average rainfall of 125-150 cms per year, with a temperature range of –3 to 28 C. We rarely get snow here, but plenty of damp, misty days.
Soil Type The soil is a medium loam with very few small stones, but some large boulders. The land is generally free draining.
